From Swahili News Anchor to Digital Media Strategist
Quinta Masika, affectionately known on-air as Babydoll, is a Cohort 4 alumna of Chuka University Radio who has successfully transitioned from campus broadcasting to professional digital media. Currently serving as the Social Media Manager and Production Assistant at PMTV_Kenya, she has already made her mark by strengthening the platform’s digital visibility and audience engagement through strategic content management. Her multifaceted background as a Swahili news presenter, business and weather news editor, and host of the Hip Hop Hotspot show equipped her with a deep understanding of audience dynamics and timely content delivery—skills now essential to her role in digital storytelling and field research support.
Chuka University Radio Experience
Quinta’s four years at Chuka University Radio laid the groundwork for her current success in digital media. As a Swahili news presenter, business and weather news editor, and show host, she developed critical skills in understanding audience tone and language preferences, structuring digital news properly, and maintaining accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines. These competencies now directly inform her work at PMTV_Kenya, where she manages social media platforms and contributes to field research and digital storytelling. “My four years at Chuka University Radio strengthened my communication skills, discipline, and media understanding, which now enables me to effectively manage PMTV’s social media platforms,” she reflects. In just five months at PMTV, she has already demonstrated how campus radio training translates into professional impact in the fast-paced digital media landscape, proving that the discipline and media insight gained at CUR create immediate value in the professional world.
