Erick Kimani Ngigi is a dedicated Chuka University Radio alumnus who has successfully transitioned from campus broadcasting to professional media at Radio Africa Group. Currently serving as the Social Media Manager at Gukena FM, he applies his comprehensive media skills across digital media and journalism sectors. His professional journey encompasses diverse achievements including news presenting and reporting at CUR, content development for the Chuka University Newsletter, and videography during the 2nd International Research Conference livestream—all of which laid the groundwork for his current role managing social media for a national radio station.
Chuka University Radio Experience
Erick’s tenure at Chuka University Radio from May 2022 to April 2024 provided the intensive training ground where his media career was forged. As a News Presenter, News Reporter, and Program Host for the Saturday Morning Edition breakfast show, Kiswahili News Bulletins, and Business News, he developed a robust skill set including show hosting, radio presentation and voice training, news reporting and writing, media production and digital media management, and teamwork within newsroom operations. “Chuka University Radio was my training ground and launching pad into the media industry,” he reflects. “It built my confidence, sharpened my storytelling skills, and gave me real newsroom and on-air experience.” With three years of industry experience, he now leverages this foundation daily as Social Media Manager at Gukena FM, part of the Radio Africa Group. “CUR shaped my passion for radio and digital media and laid a strong foundation for my journey in journalism and social media management,” he affirms. “Once a voice of CUR, always family.”
