Chuka University Radio (98.8 FM) was officially established in March 2019, following a long-term vision of the University. The station was founded to serve a dual purpose—as a training facility for Journalism, Communication, and Media students and as a community media platform for information, education, and entertainment.
Chuka University Radio operates under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), Department of Humanities, Media Section. It plays a crucial role in shaping media professionals while actively engaging the university and the surrounding community.
Since its inception, Chuka University Radio has been entirely student-run, offering learners a real-world broadcasting environment where they gain hands-on experience in news reporting, production, live presenting, and audience engagement. The station has successfully trained and graduated six cohorts of well-rounded (360°) media professionals, many of whom have secured jobs in radio, television, digital media, public relations, and content creation.
